It is really important that your child attends kindergarten as regularly as possible because it enables them to become familiar and comfortable with the environment and routines, and helps them to develop strong, positive relationships with other children and the teachers. This in turn helps them to learn. However, sometimes absences are unavoidable, so if your child is going to be absent for any reason, please let one of the teachers know, as absences can also impact on government funding.
We also need you to verify your child’s attendance by signing the roll once a month. We need to know if your child is attending another early childhood service, or if they have a regular appointment which means they will be absent from kindergarten on a regular basis. Again, this helps us to plan and meet our licence obligations.
We want children, parents and whanau to feel welcome and enthusiastic about coming to kindergarten, however we would really appreciate it if you could come as close to session times as possible. Teachers use the time before and after a session to prepare, to complete assessment planning and evaluation work, and to undertake administrative tasks, so being on time is really helpful.
